Let me say hello to everyone once again. I hope that everyone, or should I say anyone that did read it, enjoyed my last post, as it was great to for me to be writing once again. It was a little disappointing that no one had any comments on what I have to say, but I take it that there hasn't been a great deal of people reading my blog, yet. Perhaps that will change in the future, however if it doesn't that will be fine with me, too. I love to write and say what I want whether anyone reads it or not. Some may say it is good therapy. If that is true, I really need to write more often.
Enough of that kind of talk, for that is not why I have decided to post once again anyway. I have been watching and reading some fascinating shows and material since I last posted here. Everyone should know from my first blog that I love astronomy in all its forms. With that said, the History Channel has a series on called "The Universe" which I recommend to anyone and everyone regardless if they like astronomy or science. The last show was about the origin of our moon, Luna. As I stated, it was absolutely fascinating as has been the entire series!
During the period from the post previously written here and watching the History Channel, I have read some interesting articles, most notably the articles from the Universe Today. As I was reading through it, I came upon a few links that I just had to read more about, of course. Then I stumbled onto one that led me to Bad Astronomy. While reading some of the post there I had some terrifying emotions going on in my mind and heart. I felt as though one part of me wanted to defend one thing and the other part of me wanted to defend the other. I thought to myself, "Self, there must be an answer to this dilemma, surely." Even as that thought went through my non-scientific mind it also occurred to me that people have been struggling with what was bothering me for no telling how long.
Okay, for the ones of you that haven't read what I was talking about on the web sites mentioned above, here is a brief explanation of what I'm referring to, summed up real short I must reiterate. On the web site, Bad Astronomy, the people there were discussing Creationists and Science with one side going against the other on which side is the right side. We have all heard the arguments before, I'm sure that at least most of us have at any rate. Now that everyone is caught-up on everything, it may be going through some people's mind why I felt so torn. For me to answer that I must explain how I feel about God, Jesus and the Bible.
First of all, don't freak out thinking that I'm bring this up only to get someone to believe the way I do, or that I have any kind of ulterior motive at all (other than bring it up in the first place). I am simply going to state how I feel/believe about God. I cannot think how this universe could’ve been made without some kind of omnipotent hand making it to be. I believe that God is that omnipotent hand, that He did actually send His Son to us to die on the cross for our sins and that the Bible was written to guide us to a path to reunite with Him after this life is over. Does that mean that I believe everything written in the Bible is the absolute truth? Not at all do I believe that one iota. The Bible was written, after all, by us humans and we all know that we as humans make mistakes. With that said, there can be no way humans whom wrote the Bible did so without making mistakes. I could go on farther about this, but I think my point is clear. Anyone is welcome to continue this conversation by making comments that I will be glad to respond to at a later date.
Just as humans wrote the Bible, so are all the journals with different theories dealing with science. We all know, or most of us know, that there have been many science journals written that address many different forms of science, from astronomy to biology and every other different kinds in-between. How many times has there been that after some amount of time someone has come around that has disproved one theory after the next? At one time humans thought that the Earth was the center of the galaxy or that the Earth was flat for that matter. At one time, we didn't know what a black hole was, and there is a lot more we don't know about them either. One may say that there is a lot of science that is fact and there is no disproving it. That is true, but isn't there also some parts of the Bible that we know to be true that cannot be disproved?
The point is, sometimes we must take a leap of faith, whether it is about science or religion. It really bothers me that people of both sides of this issue think that they have to disprove the others belief. Science, politics and religion simply do not mix well with one another and the sooner that some people stop trying to mix them the better off we all will be. We need all three for our society to function, nevertheless. That doesn't mean that we need to fight each other about them. Albert Einstein was a man of religion and science, and he even agonized over many of the things he learned from science, because he basically thought that he was disproving religion. I happen to think what he actually did was prove how much more omnipotent God really is in all of His glory.
It isn't my place to judge anyone about there belief in creation, science, religion or anything else, nor do I think anyone else should judge me in my beliefs. Sure, we can have a discussion about it, on this subject or about anything else, but it is wrong for anyone to attack another's faith simply because that isn't his or her own faith. Who knows if I'm correct in how I believe, or the person that is reading this believes' are correct? We may never know, and until I can prove my faith is the absolute correct one, or the person that is reading this can prove their faith is the correct one, we should not ever be so self important that we either force our opinions on another, or dismiss and/or attack another's opinions. When the day comes when we can learn to be that way as a whole society, we may then perhaps achieve a major form of enlightenment of some kind. That is, of course, my opinion.
